1. Right-click the ZIP and choose Extract All.
2. Double-click START-ONENOTE-RESCUE.cmd.
3. The starter checks desktop OneNote and offers the official installer if needed.

The home screen can open, build, or verify the latest completed backup,
or create a new backup. New backups are verified automatically.
Pressing Enter on the home screen defaults to Automatic overnight rescue.
Choose Automatic overnight rescue to run parallel OneNote, Edge sign-in, storage, space, and power checks before inventory, sync, export, verification, viewer building, and the issue report.
Missing setup is opened or prompted for and rechecked before the overnight run begins.
Automatic mode keeps Windows awake, never prunes files, and never clicks authentication or unfamiliar security prompts.
Browser inventory waits for OneDrive to finish rendering and retries/reloads transient zero-row layouts before failing.
A new backup can autodiscover account notebooks (recommended) or export only notebooks already open in desktop OneNote.
The Issues option lists incomplete notebooks, unavailable packages, section failures, viewer failures, and pages that required native OneNote HTML fallback.
The offline viewer keeps ink sharp and converts printouts locally.
Notebook and section colors/order are preserved when OneNote records them.
Native HTML fallbacks temporarily use a light OneNote page canvas, then restore it.
The Prune option reclaims package-backed duplicates after a proof audit; later viewer builds recover them temporarily from the verified packages.
Known OneNote export warnings are handled without accepting omitted pages.
Backups default to Documents\OneNote Rescue. A custom destination is remembered.
Everything else is organized inside the Toolkit folder.
